Seminar to Assist Adults with Autism
ssistance and support from the state are limited for people with autism after they turn 22 years old. To help, a seminar sponsored by Creating a Fu- ture for Adults with Autism will gather area experts and leaders to provide helpful information from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., September 14, at St. John’s Evange- list Church, in Naples.

Desiree Kameka, from The Madison House and Autism Housing Network, will discuss co-housing and other long- term housing solutions. Todd Ryan, of Goodwill industries of Southwest Florida, will explore supported employment and life services. In addition, a panel of experts will discuss guardianship, living trusts and other legal issues, followed by breakout sessions focusing on specific areas of inter- est. Florida ranks last among states in providing supportive services for disabled adults, 75,000 of which live at home, where at least one family member is over the age of 60.

World Day of Prayer at Unity of Fort Myers

ndividuals interested in alterna- tive healing modalities, spirituality, nutrition and new ways of thinking will have the opportunity to partici- pate in the World Day of Prayer at Unity of Fort Myers. With a theme of Living Well: Nurturing Mind, Body and Spirit, the event will begin with a prayer vigil and prayer breakfast at 7:30 a.m., September 12. A medita- tion service will be held at 8 a.m. and an American Indian sacred fire ceremony and drumming circle at 5:30 p.m. Participants will enjoy presentations by traditional and
alternative health and nutrition practitioners, with opportu- nities to sample a variety of modalities, including massage therapy, Reiki, acupuncture, hypnotherapy, shamanic heal- ing, yoga, t’ai chi, essential oils and guided silent meditation hikes in nature. A labyrinth walk will also be provided to engender an awareness of uniting with others internationally and affirming the highest and best outcomes for ourselves, those we care about and the world. Trained chaplains will be available to pray one-on-one
with anyone that desires prayer support. A healthy breakfast and lunch will also be provided.
