2013 NATIONAL FINALS F
Priefert RSNC National Finals Continues to Break Records!
inals week began with everyone arriving at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas, in a long line of trailers filled with horses ready to start sorting the 1,700 plus fresh cattle. With over 800
stalls reserved we could feel the growing excitement everywhere. And with that the 2013 Priefert RSNC National Finals began!
The World Series elimination rounds kicked off Tuesday morning with six round robins filled with riders competing for the $40,000 in cash and the 4-Star Horse trailers! We then moved straight into the National Finals classes and had 465 teams in the #10 Handicap, 304 teams in the #14 Ranch Hand and 260 teams in the Trainer’s Incentive class. We had over 1,100 teams run in the first day! Talk about record breaking! Wednesday was also a record breaking day with almost 1,100 teams.
The RSNC Futurity and Maturity took the spotlight on Thursday with over $60,000 in cash awarded! With more than 100 horses competing in the four classes it was a great competition that truly highlighted the high caliber horses that are part of our great sport of Ranch Sorting. We can’t wait to see what next year will be like.
The first night of Finals competition was held in the prestigious Will Rogers Coliseum after a cocktail party sponsored by American National Insurance. The finals gave our riders a great opportunity to showcase their skills and awesome horses.
Friday and Saturday were filled with more record breaking classes and the riders all brought their A-game, along with big smiles! Sunday night kicked off with even more finals classes, where even more cash and prizes were given out. The anticipation grew as we drew closer to finding out who would win the World Series and take home the awesome 4-Star trailers, B&W Dominator receivers, and the $40,000 cash! A HUGE congratulations to Michael Squires and Kevin Pearce for winning the 1-3 Division and Tony Gibbs for winning the 4-6 division! You all deserved it!!!
By popular demand the Turtle Racing National Championships returned to the National Finals and once again we had some great competition that gave contestants yet another way to have fun with their whole family. Congratulations to Ryder Day, and his speedy turtle that blew past the competition to win the $1,000 prize! There is nothing more entertaining than to see a super hero turtle running through the masses of turtles to the finish line!
By the end of the week everyone was curious as to who had won the high- point awards for each division and it was a close race! Congratulations to Pam Haar, Barbe Ellingboe, Jessica Burk, Shawn Hochhalter, Jared Lesh, and Larry Newport on winning the National Points Race in your divisions!
Once again this was a great week and it is always fun to get the Ranch Sorting family together and see all of our friends! The RSNC staff and volunteers would not be able to put on an event like this without the great support of the riders and their families. The facility was spectacular and we can’t wait to be there again next year. If you were not able to attend this year we hope to see you next year for the 2014 RSNC National Finals.
More than $600,000 in cash and prizes awarded!
