May 11th & 12th marked the end of Lazy J Arena’s Spring Saddle Series of RSNC shows. You couldn’t have asked for better cattle (they held up well both days). Combine that with great weather and fun people and it’s a recipe for a good time!
The saddle series attracted a lot of attention as everyone battled it out for the possibilities of winning a saddle in each class….and we all know how one show can jockey the contestants around and change who is on top! The cattle never know who is leading and don’t really care, so keep riding hard.
The Easter weekend two day show provided the opportunity for high point winners to take away saddles in each rider’s rated division. And those saddles were earned! These cattle were challenging….requiring many riders to look deep in their box of tools and find what was going to work to make it back to the top ten. Lady Luck would occasionally assist but some wondered if she had decided to show up at all!!
One of the highlights of the Easter weekend show was the Beginner Clinic put on by Joel Lesh. A great majority of them were very very new to the sport. What a pleasure it was to see them enjoy themselves and learn some great foundational skills!! It is an important reminder of what it feels like to start out in a sport and for others around to be supportive and helpful so it can be a positive experience. Let’s work to set new riders up for success and to grow within the organization!
