• Brandon Read, IT assistant at Basingstoke-based NewVoiceMedia, was honoured as a top-performing apprentice at a House of Lords reception. Read was among 30 apprentices in attendance, selected from its crop of 12,000 across the country, in recognition of his contribution to NewVoiceMedia, a leading provider of cloud contact centre solutions. He was offered a role at the company’s Basing View headquarters following a nine-month advanced apprenticeship in ‘IT, software, web & telecoms professionals’ after completing his training through Vision Workforce Skills, a subsidiary of the college group.


• Santander Corporate & Commercial has appointed Ben Barbanel as the new regional director for business development in London and the South East. In his new role, Barbanel will be responsible for helping Santander Corporate & Commercial continue to focus on building a high-quality relationship bank by applying a strategic and dynamic approach to developing the business. He will work closely with SMEs, introducers and intermediaries to further Santander’s growth plans to become the SME bank of choice in the UK. Barbanel was previously the deputy regional director for London, where he led a team of 20 relationship directors. He has been at Santander since 2009 when he joined from Clydesdale Bank. He said: “I am delighted to have been appointed to this key role. Over the past couple of years, Santander Corporate & Commercial has established itself as a major supporter of UK businesses and I am confident the next few years will bring even more success. Santander offers a service shaped entirely around its customers, with a full relationship management approach, and I am looking forward to developing the business in the region.”


• Mike O’Driscoll has been appointed group CEO of Williams Grand Prix Holdings plc, to guide the long-term future of the company. The newly-created role will see the Williams F1 Team and Williams Advanced Engineering united under one management structure and will enable O’Driscoll to provide support to Sir Frank Williams, founder and team principal and to work in partnership with Claire Williams, deputy team principal. Formerly managing director of Jaguar Cars (2007-2011) and ex-president of Aston Martin Jaguar Land Rover in North America (2001-2007), O’Driscoll will lead the executive committee which will report to him, and in turn he will report to Sir Frank Williams and the Williams Grand Prix Holdings board. Alex Burns, previous CEO of Williams Grand Prix, has left the company and Williams thanks him for the significant contribution he has made to the business.


• Thames Valley law firm Clifton Ingram LLP has appointed Jenny Stevens as a solicitor in its tax planning, wills & probate department. Stevens previously worked at a law firm with offices in Tilehurst and Henley and as a specialist in wills, probate, powers of attorney and deputyship. Commenting on her arrival, department head Peter McGeown said: “We are pleased to welcome Jenny as we continue to extend the breadth and depth of services offered by our team and build on our position as one of the largest wills and probate departments in the Thames Valley.”
