New Lexus IS: amazing in motion

The IS 300h emits just 99g/km CO2 emissions for the SE version, delivers 65.7mpg (combined) and its full hybrid powertrain ensures Benefit in Kind (BIK) of just 11% for 2013/14 making it destined to be a company car favourite.
Automotive retailer Jemca Car Group’s Lexus centre in Reading at Rose Kiln Lane is now taking orders with first deliveries taking place in the middle of July whilst local companies can take advantage of services offered by the Jemca Business Centre such as on-site test drives for companies operating in the area and advice on the best vehicle funding according to the needs of individual businesses.
Businesses adding the IS 300h to its fleet will benefit from low Vehicle Excise Duty charges (when the vehicle is fitted with 16-inch wheels), due to its sub-100g/km emissions performance. Further up the range, the model’s credentials are equally impressive – the IS 300h Luxury grade is rated at 103g/km, while the F Sport and Premier versions emit just 109g/km, meaning they qualify for zero first-year Vehicle Excise Duty charge.
The Luxury model, expected to be the most popular trim, has strong residual values with a prediction of 37% by CAP offering even greater peace-of-mind when planning fleets.
The Lexus Hybrid Drive system is engineered for durability and low
maintenance requirements. It has no clutch; the starter motor and alternator are integrated into the system, so require no servicing or replacement during the vehicle’s lifetime; and instead of a timing belt it uses a maintenance-free timing chain. All of which equates to lower servicing bills and savings on replacement parts.
The rear wheels are driven through the powertrain’s E-CVT transmission, delivering a total system output of 220bhp/164kW, enabling the IS 300h to reach 62mph from standing in 8.3 seconds, with a top speed of 125mph. With a newly-introduced Drive Mode Select system, drivers can choose between different settings – Normal, Eco for optimum fuel efficiency, Sport for enhanced sport steering and EV for an all- electric driving experience.
Specification for the IS 300h also includes cruise control, dual-zone climate control air conditioning, smart entry and start system and HID headlamps with dusk-sensing functionality.
Prices start from £29,495, for the IS 300h whilst the rest of the newly launched IS range includes the 2.5-litre IS 250 with V6 petrol engine. Priced from £26,495, the IS 250 is capable of nought to 62mph in 8.1 seconds and a top speed of 140mph.
