Pitmans launches new association with Egyptian law firm Levari

Pitmans LLP has launched a new association with the new Egyptian legal practice, Levari LLP. The association creates a specialist service to clients who operate in the Thames Valley, London and Egypt, and for those companies looking to make the most of business opportunities in the two regions for the first time

Levari and Pitmans will undertake commercial and corporate work for

international companies who operate or invest in Egypt as well as entrepreneurs, start-ups, and medium-sized businesses ...

The association between the two firms is Pitmans’ first venture into the Middle East, and marks an important milestone in the firm’s delivery of legal services and international aspirations. The association with Pitmans establishes Levari as a competitive force in the Egyptian legal service industry.

Levari is based in Cairo and was established in 2012 by partners, Sherif Hefni and Mohamed Raslan. Both partners have significant legal experience in the Middle East, specialising in commercial, corporate and foreign investments. Like Pitmans, Levari is a full service law firm, offering a range of services to individual and corporate clients. Both Pitmans and Levari share an ethos focused on service delivery and the provision of pragmatic, commercial legal advice, distinguishing Levari from other Egyptian law firms currently operating in Cairo.

Levari and Pitmans will undertake commercial and corporate work for international companies who operate or invest in Egypt as well as entrepreneurs, start-ups, and medium-sized businesses that are seeking to make the most of the climate of opportunity that currently exists in post-revolution Egypt. The two firms are well positioned to support individual clients with interests in both the UK and Egypt.

The association allows Pitmans to provide Islamic finance transactional advice to clients

Sherif Hefni, co-founder and partner of Levari, says: “We are honoured to join in association with Pitmans in its first venture in the Middle East. As a new law firm, Levari has the adaptability and client focus to excel in Egypt, and being backed by Pitmans allows us to provide clients from across the Middle East with UK quality legal services and cross-border advice.”

Pitmans partner Richard Devall, says: “Levari is an important new law firm in Egypt with significant regional influence. The close relationship illustrates our commitment to assist clients and contacts operating in both the Middle East and Africa and going forward allows Pitmans to offer commercial Islamic finance advice where necessary.”

To launch the association, Pitmans and Levari hosted an evening reception in Cairo, in conjunction with UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), which brought together individuals and business leaders from all sectors to discuss investing in Egypt and the UK.

www.businessmag.co.uk THE BUSINESS MAGAZINE – THAMES VALLEY – JULY/AUGUST 2013

With speakers from Levari, UKTI, Mercy Corps (Egypt) and Pitmans, the event raised awareness of the current opportunities for businesses in the UK to invest in Egypt, as well as those methods open to Egyptian businesses ready to export products to the UK, or move their operations to the UK.

It was recognised that Egypt’s political circumstances pose a risk to businesses in the region because of the ongoing uncertainty. However, the existence of entities such as Mercy Corps (Egypt) and Flat6Labs as investors, mentoring and funding new start ups, is helping to drive a technology sector boom in Cairo. With SMEs contributing to over 60% of the economic growth of Egypt, the country has great opportunities and a market in which demand outstrips supply.

The message from Pitmans to all those businesses in attendance was that the UK, and particularly the Thames Valley, is open for business

UKTI’s inward investment team was on hand throughout the evening to give guidance to companies who were looking to move their business to the UK, and raise awareness of the Thames Valley region as an alternative business hub to London.

Pitmans’ business immigration team also spoke to delegates about the opportunities that exist for entering the UK as an investor or entrepreneur and combining investment with an application for a visa to live and work here. Pitmans’ business immigration team has witnessed a recent explosion in demand for advice from overseas individuals bringing investment to the UK and has successfully matched investors with existing businesses, and helped overseas entrepreneurs seize the opportunity to contribute to the UK business community.

Pitmans and Levari have successfully launched themselves in Egypt and the Middle East as associate law firms ready to support and encourage businesses growth. Whether you are a UK company seeking to expand into the Middle East and Africa to take advantage of the booming services and IT sector, or an Egyptian business seeking to expand into the UK and EU, contact Pitmans LLP to find out how it can help.
