I take a deep sigh. It’s nothing like Mallorca or Ibiza,” says Sharon Butterfi eld, 62, whose fi ve-bed holiday home is on the market with Hamptons International for £2.95 million (pictured above, top leſt ). “T e only problem is that it is seasonal —
there are not enough fl ights in the winter. Guests want to stay in our home [let out for £5,000 per week], but they cannot get here.” T e relative lack of direct fl ights is a minor
downside for Menorca — but, that said, Monarch, Ryanair, Flythomascook, T omson, Jet2, EasyJet and BA CityFlyer run fl ights in the summer. Of course, you can also get the ferry
from Mallorca (one hour) or from Barcelona (3½ hours) or arrive by yacht like many, or even private aircraſt (as our property hunter, on page 29, wants to do).

price was €243,000 [£208,500], 63 of which were bank repossessions.
T e largest group of purchasers were the Spanish and British,” he says. “Two-bed apartments and three-bed villas
are my bread and butter, but there are 3,500 properties for sale on the island, and if you’re a seller you’ve got to be priced right to get an off er,” he adds. So there’s plenty of choice, depending on
your budget and tastes — there are even two islands off Menorca for sale (for €4 million and €6 million apiece). In Cala Llonga, a property sold in
April for €4 million, but you can also get a detached three- or four-bed villa with a pool and great views for around €690,000 (there are two pictured centre leſt ) that were worth around €995,000 at the market peak. Moving away from this exclusive hub, you can get more for your money: in Addaia, an
