ur panel of Italian property experts came up with a nice mix of ideas for this price band. T ese days, with property prices


down by 30 per cent since the market peak in many areas, your money goes a long way in Italy, and with £200,000 you can buy in most regions. In relatively aff ordable Calabria, you can


easily buy a two-bed house (see below), and, although not included here, there will be plenty of choices in the Abruzzo region. You can even aff ord fashionable Tuscany and Umbria, and you get a lot of bang for


your buck in Lake Trasimeno (below), four bedrooms, in fact. Arezzo is a lovely historic town in the “golden triangle” area of Tuscany (Sting has a holiday home nearby and there is a great monthly antiques market), and you can aff ord a bolthole there (such as the one below), or a renovation project. Another option is to buy a fraction,


or share, in a very high-end property, such as Casa Leopardi (pictured right), in Le Marche. You don’t have to worry about any upkeep issues and how many people will use their Italian villa for more than fi ve weeks a year, anyway. A few very lucky people...
