INDUSTRY UNWRAPPED << SERIOUSLY STRONG PROMO

As part of its campaign to bring even more focus to McLelland’s Seriously Strong Cheddar brand, marketing communications agency Multiply has produced another on-pack promo. Denny Bros has worked with the Edinburgh and London-based Multiply on a number of Fix-a-Form promos in recent months – most recently offering a generous money-off voucher. The cross-brand promo hosted by Seriously Strong Extra Mature cheddar offers customers 50p off Seriously Strong Spreadable. The Fix-a-Form challenged customers to try the cheese spreadable by using the easy-tear-out coupon. The six-page resealable, leaflet-label contained all the details to make the promotion work including images of the spreadable product which comes in a number of special flavours. The over-laminated Fix-a- Form helped to give stand-out to the tempting label offer on the front aspect of the host cheese block to tempt both regular buyers and impulse purchasers.

When Yorkshire based E. Oldroyd and Sons, a producer and packer of high quality fruit and vegetables needed to increase capacity to cope with the demand for its strawberries it turned to Packaging Automation Ltd (PA) for a new eclipse SL4 tray sealer. Due to the seasonality of the product the machine was hired initially, but it has since decided to purchase. The in- line, fully electric SL4 is a small footprint machine capable of sealing up to 75 packs per minute that PA says can reduce an end user’s running costs by up to 90%. The machine incorporates PA’s E-Seal technology which, unlike the pneumatic/electric hybrids currently on the market, requires zero compressed air for full operation. With all systems driven directly by small servomechanisms, the running costs and environmental impact can be as low as 8% of an equivalent pneumatic system, while still achieving the same high standards of versatility and sealing performance.

TRI-STAR ATTRACTION

Tri-Star Packaging will give visitors to this year’s ScotHot exhibition the perfect chance to see the Mozaïk dining and buffet range up-close and in its full glory. Developed by Sabert and distributed by Tri-Star, Mozaïk comprises a wide selection of plates, bowls, silver-look cutlery and serving platters, including ‘minis’ for stylish presentation of appetisers. All look like the real thing but are actually manufactured from disposable, durable, heavyweight plastic. The Tri- Star stand will also feature a new tamper-evident salad pot range, again developed by Sabert. The leak-resistant bowls are made from crystal clear PET and are square in shape, offering superb presentation. In addition, they feature an innovative lid that cannot be opened without breaking the hinge. This feature offers customers valuable reassurance that their salad hasn’t been tampered with after packing. ScotHot takes place at the SECC in Glasgow from March 4 to 6 with Tri-Star exhibiting on Stand 4629.
