FROM THE EDITOR

INNOVATION is the lifeblood of the packaging industry and that’s never more apparent when the latest ideas and breakthroughs take centre stage at trade shows such as Packaging Innovations, IMHX and Pro2Pac which are all on the near horizon. All three exhibitions are featured in our first issue of 2013 and

although the year ahead looks certain to be another economically challenging period for packaging businesses at home and abroad, these gatherings provide an important conduit for an industry that thrives on competition. The drive to discover new and more sustainable ways to package

products would surely falter if the people charged with advancing technology were ploughing a lone furrow. The very nature of progress is defined by the desire to improve upon what has gone before and, thankfully, the packaging industry has an abundance of minds focused on finding new routes through the innovation maze that we all hope will lead to a more profitable and sustainable future. For those of you who have been bitten by the Twitter bug, Packaging

Scotland’s Twitter feed @PackScot is now fully operational, so do please follow and we promise to follow back. You can also log on to our website www.packagingscotland.com for all the latest news, views, and product information.
