outdoor daily exercise easier. A variety of exercises can be done alone, as well as in groups, both indoors and outside. Encour- age your kids to fi nd exercises that best suit their comfort level. Here are ways to have fun while staying fi t in the months ahead.


1. Zumba Zumba is a total-body workout that can leave you feeling energized all day. A combination of salsa, rumba, tango and hip-hop, Zumba doesn’t really feel like exercise, as it has fast and slow moves. The music can put you in

2. Walking Walking is nothing new, but a different pace or location can make it an adventure. One way to challenge yourself is to wear a pe- dometer to measure how many steps you take each day. Listening to fast-pace music helps you pick up speed, while slower tunes relax the pace. Add variety by carry- ing hand weights or moving your arms for a full-body workout. Join a neighborhood walking club, or even start a walking club at school. Parents can walk along to provide a sense of safety. Any walking is benefi cial — to and from school, increasing your steps by parking further away from the store, power walking around the mall, etc.
