news 9 Merger launches Bond Dickinson
A major new law firm is now in play following the merger of Bond Pearce, which employed over 150 people in its Southampton office, with Dickinson Dees
Nick Page (pictured), who remains chairman at Bond Dickinson, talks about the ambitions of the new firm.
How did the merger come about?
At Bond Pearce we wanted to compete as a top UK law firm and realised that we needed stronger capability, wider geographical spread and more sector differentiation.
We had a real chemistry with Dickinson Dees straight away. We were both looking for the right partner to give clients the broader service they were demanding, but neither of us was looking to be taken over.
What does it mean for clients?
I think both firms are genuinely liked by their clients and they have been telling us that, while they welcome our ambition, they don’t want anything to change in terms of the type of people we are and the culture of our firm. We can reassure
With eight offices across the country now, where is the new firm’s headquarters?
The reality is that the firm only needs an HQ for legal purposes and that is now London, simply because the geography makes it easier for all our lawyers to get there. Clients are also able to tap into our increased London strength, with a combined offering of 70 lawyers now based in the capital.
them on that front. However our new scale gives us the strength in depth and sector insight to support our clients’ growth plans and also a strong base for further growth and lateral recruitment.
Bond Dickinson can draw on the best of both firms to deliver outstanding client service and will build on the great reputation that each has for quality work.
Deals Awards finalists announced
Judging for the 2013 Solent Deals Awards has taken place and the list of finalists is now available
At the time of going to print, the Deals Awards judges were sifting through some 200 nominations, considering a host of criteria including: the size of the deals, the complexity, who led the deals, the mix of advisers, whether they were cross-border and whether they were completed to a tight timeframe.
Finalists were being decided as well as winners, with the exceptions of the Dealmaker and Deal of the Year categories for which winners are voted on the night.
By the time of reading, the list of finalists will have been published and can be found on the website at
www.dealsawards.co.uk
The Awards presentation will take place at a black-tie dinner at St Mary’s Stadium, home of Southampton FC, on Thursday, June 6, just a few weeks after the Solent’s sister event, the Thames Valley Deals Awards, which was held in Reading on April 25.
Tickets are selling fast, and early booking is recommended. C M
