“We are seeing a massive technology shift in communications and as one of Avaya’s top partners in the UK we are working closely with them to deliver the best possible telephony solutions to businesses across the country,“ said Wood.
That changing technology is impacting on businesses across the region, as Anthony Donohue, head of technology for Barclays Southern, explained.

Wood explained: “Avaya is leading the way in developing new ways in which businesses can communicate in a simpler but more integrated fashion. The whole system runs independently of the handset or the method of connecting to it.
“If I use my mobile at my desk, the signal will automatically route itself through the computer network; if I am at home it will use the normal mobile network. I only need one number and it’s irrelevant to me – or any other employee in any other business – how I am connected to the system.“

“Businesses of all shapes and sizes are re- evaluating technology, what it can do for their business and how they can use it to reduce costs and make themselves more efficient and more customer focused,“ he commented.
“While some companies are embracing the technology and using new innovations such as QR codes for ticketing, other businesses understand how important it is but would rather outsource it to one of a growing number of managed service providers.
“That is particularly tempting at a time when technology is changing so rapidly that only the experts can really keep up – and it could easily be cheaper than employing an in-house team.
“We are seeing an increasing number of managed service businesses setting up; the challenge for companies is to make sure they choose a reliable supplier.“
The rise of trends like ’bring your own device’ also highlights the need for good IT support; as such a move can compromise security if it is not introduced carefully.
Donohue and his team support technology companies to grow by funding mergers and acquisitions with support capital purchases. Even upgrading the power supply to increase server capacity can stretch the resources of many growing IT companies.
In IP Integrations’ case, that support has allowed the business to create a business offer that brings together Avaya’s product, and the additional in-house skills contributed by the former Micropoint team.
As IP Integration moves from installing telephone systems to becoming a broader-based communications system provider, Wood wants to shift the business model towards repeat revenue and away from one-off capital purchases.
“There are big opportunities around the corner in areas such as collaboration tools, call recording and other data centre services and I want to make sure IP Integration makes the most of those opportunities,“ he said.
