BIID announces honorary fellowships


Thomas Heatherwick and James Dyson will be presented with their Honorary Fellowships at the 2013 BIID Annual Conference, “Design Invention: Where Art and Science Collide” at RIBA HQ, Portland Place, London on Thursday 27th June 2013. The day-long conference will explore the dynamics and changing creative landscape in design, through the experiences of global experts and practitioners.


SBID joins 'The Acronyms'


This summer will see SBID launch an exchange program to create


educational opportunities and professional exposure for Interior Design Students from both sides of the Atlantic.


New Outreach exec


A new ‘Outreach’ position has been introduced at The Furniture


Ombudsman to help build relationships with retailers, consumers and other stakeholders. Natalie Williams, who has been working for the Ombudsman since 2009, will take up the new role, alongside some of her existing case


management duties.


Top interiors expert joins uni


Leading interiors practitioner David Fern, design researcher Professor Anne Massey and interior education expert and writer Graeme Brooker, have joined Middlesex University, following a major new investment in academic talent and a plan to fuse interiors with fashion.

The project, which was the second Margolis has completed for Baker Tilly, was completed in eight weeks and was delivered on time and within budget. Baker Tilly has since asked Margolis to deliver further office interiors in Stoke and


Gatwick. Warren Margolis, Project Director, said, “This was an important project for Baker Tilly following its move from its former Guildford location of 25 years to a new office that had to meet the demands of 125 team members as well as significant numbers of visiting clients. venture succeeds Richard Grafton Interiors has announced turnover in excess of £1m for its first year of trading from April 2012 to March 2013, 35 per cent ahead of budget. The retail and commercial interior design business last year acquired Harrogate interior design business, Janet Sandles Interiors, and in December, the company joined forces with interior installations contractor Andrew Freestone to launch a new joint venture firm called Grafton Freestone. The joint venture handles all bedroom, bathroom and wet room design and project installations.
