344 1932 Grand Prix National de l’Entre Sambre et Meuse, Mettet 5 June poster, a rare original example featuring an artist’s impression of a racing motorcyclist at speed, printed in red and gold, original fold marks, laid on linen, truncated triangular shape, 90.5 by 66cm., 35 1/2 by 26in.


Racing on public roads at Mettet, in Belgium’s Province de Namur, began in 1927, but in 1932 the circuit was extended to 8.5km in a figure-of-eight shape that would remain in use until 1991. This poster advertises the fifth running of the motorcycle Grand Prix event that was held there annually. £150 - 250

343 1959 29th Grand Prix des Frontieres, Chimay 17 May poster, featuring an artist’s impression of a racing car and motorcycle at speed beneath Chimay’s clock tower, sponsored by Caltex, a fine original colour example laid on linen, 73 by 45cm., 29 by 17 1/2in.


This roadrace in southern Belgium was unusual in that it catered for both cars and motorcycles. It was held on a 9.5km circuit around the town for most years between 1929 and 1966, except during WWII. £200 - 300

The ‘London to Exeter and Back Winter Club Run’ began on Boxing Day 1910 and generated 81 entries on two, three and four wheels. Still running to this day, successful competitors start on Boxing Day evening and finish where they began the following afternoon, having covered nearly 500 miles at a predetermined average speed on indifferent roads in winter weather. £120 - 180
