2012 Hengst-Tage Every year the German
Oldenburg Verband selects the very best young colts to attend their annual licensing in Vechta. Te stringent pre-selections culminate with a large group of young stallions presented for three days each November at the Hengst-Tage (Stallion Days). Te colts are presented on hard ground, free running, lunging, free jumping and in the walking ring for spectators and judges as well as live-streamed over the internet. Te licensing and stallion auction is also held in conjunction with the Oldenburg Alt-Hengst Parade each year, a fantastic chance for breeders to see a vast array of top stallions from the top stations, one after another. Held in conjunction with the Verband’s Summer Mixed Sales in Vechta at the end of May, the Summer Meeting is an English-speaking, four-day educational tour through Oldenburg. In addition to daily visits to multiple famous breeders and studs, Oldenburg scholars are treated to practical demonstrations and lectures from prominent trainers, judges and breeding experts. Riders, breeders, journalists, veterinarians and more, from North America, England, Germany, Italy, Czech Republic, Finland and Australia, took part in this inaugural 2012 event. Te Verband hopes that more North Americans will participate as this special educational program matures in the years to come.
