The group from Cam- borne College were asked to design and produce three posters for FRANK, an anti- drugs advertising cam- paign that puts empha- sis on the negative aspects of drug and al- cohol misuse. They re- searched the topic widely and the end product was divided into three age groups to promote the message – appropriate to different audiences: 16-25, 30-45 and 60-80.
The first-year stu- dents produced work that included pho- tographs and posters which illustrate their newly-learned skills on photography and graphic design, such as Photoshop, layout, ty- pography and exhibi- tion design.
Annalise Garrett, 19 from Camborne, said she enjoyed being in- volved in the anti- drugs campaign project and had learned a great deal of Photoshop tech- niques which would be useful in the future. ‘By helping set up the exhibition I was able to get an insight of what is needed. The whole

experience was reward- ing and everyone worked really well to- gether,’ she added. Senior tutor in Arts & Media at Camborne, Mel Thomas, said: ‘Our students have worked extremely hard throughout the drugs and alcohol awareness project.
‘They have learnt new skills that have en- abled them to produce designs to an excep- tional standard. It has been an amazing oppor- tunity to be given per- mission to use Heart- lands to exhibit their work and teach them the hard work and pro- fessionalism it takes to set up an exhibition.’
