AGR ANNOUNCES NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE

CONTACT UPDATE

AGR has recently welcomed a new member to our office team. Helen Gooch has replaced Rachael Dowen as Carl’s PA and AGR training coordinator – please update your contact details accordingly! Helen is a Psychology graduate from Cardiff University who, after achieving a first class honours degree in 2011, went on to study an MSc in Psychiatry. Helen, who grew up in Exeter, has also worked for an Educational Psychology service as an assistant to the Managing Director, until she relocated to Warwick at the beginning of this year.

We are pleased to announce that we have appointed Stephen Isherwood as the new Chief Executive of the Association of Graduate Recruiters.

Stephen is a long-term member and supporter of AGR. He has been Head of Graduate Recruitment at Ernst & Young for the last six years, and prior to that worked in higher education – at the University of Westminster – so he spans both fields and understands from all sides the complexities of the environment in which we operate.

Stephen has extensive experience in graduate recruitment and the broader graduate market – in recruiting, retaining and developing talent – not only as a recruiter, but also from working in higher education.

On being appointed to the role, which he will take up on 10 June, Stephen said: “I am excited by the opportunity of leading the AGR. The graduate and higher education market is shifting enormously – from the focus on employability, to HE funding, visa issues and the growth in alternative employment pathways – and I believe the organisation is ideally placed to navigate these challenges. Taking on the mantle from Carl, whose knowledge and passion for the sector has been synonymous with the organisation for so long, is a huge honour – albeit a slightly daunting one! I am looking forward to working with him and the rest of the AGR team from June onwards.”

All enquiries about Carl and AGR training should be forwarded to Helen whose email address is– helen@agr.org.uk
