KAUST GOLF COURSE Thuwal, Makkah Province Nine-hole grass course
The nine-hole Kaust Golf Course, north of Jeddah on the campus of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, is part of a housing complex for foreign residents. Currently a nine-hole all-grass course lit for night play, plans are underway to extend it to 18 holes in future.

Greens Course The Greens Course, known as the ‘Pearl of the Desert’, is an offi cial championship golf course and boasts four picturesque lakes connected by streams that form a central part of the design. The facility includes an intimidating par three of just 162 yards with cross- winds and water on all sides. Night owls can enjoy the front nine holes, which are fl oodlit. The fully equipped clubhouse
commands excellent views across rolling hills, lakes and fairways. Here golfers can sit back and relax on the terrace with a fruit juice. Amenities include function rooms, Jacuzzis, saunas, a private gym, shower rooms, a restaurant, a pro shop and fi ne-dining restaurant. Desert Golf Course Par 72, 7,000 yards Launched in 1986, the 7,000- yard-long Desert Golf Course is one of the oldest public golfi ng facilities in Riyadh. A highlight of this challenging terrain is the two par-three holes guarded by several water hazards. Strategically located bunkers, natural dry streams and undu- lating browns make it a stimu- lating course for all skill levels.

WHISPERING SANDS GOLF CLUB Jubail, Eastern Province 18-hole sand course, par 72, 6,049 yards This all-sand course is situ- ated only 10 minutes from Jubail Industrial City, in the Eastern Province. Due to the lack of natural grass, artifi cial turf mats can be used at any position on the course, except at an offi cial sand trap, which is designated by an emerald green rope. The complex is complemented
by a driving range and pro shop, while the course hosts regular tour- naments and golfi ng lessons. Being a desert sand course, golfers are in with a chance of seeing camels strolling across the browns.
