1. Give us a 30 second pitch of your company
JumpIn is a network-focused and sociable taxi booking and taxi sharing mobile application with the aim of saving students money, improving student safety at night and reducing the carbon footprint of city travel. We want to provide the ultimate student taxi travel experience for students, by students.
2. How did your entrepreneurial journey begin? My business partner Barney and I went to school together. We’ve both always been the type to think big and get excited about projects we could take on. JumpIn originated in a bar in Leeds about 8 months ago now. We went into it completely blind and it’s been a rollercoaster but by far the best experience we’ve ever had for personal development.
3. What has been your biggest achievement so far? Simply getting to this position. We’re almost ready for release of our mobile application and we’re starting work on the exciting stuff. We’ve recently brought James Gupta on board as a Technical Director, which has accelerated our efforts tenfold. He’s co-founder of MyCQs and his technical expertise is invaluable. We’ve also just been approved for a Start Up Loan through Entrepreneur Country!
4. What’s the best advice you’ve been given? Don’t be ‘wishy washy’ - not mapping out a clear agenda for a meeting or leaving a meeting without a clear plan of action can only lead to inefficiency and I don’t like inefficiency!

1. Give us an elevator pitch for your company
Silhouette Press aims to make all aspects of the publishing industry more accessible and help new writers and publishing professionals. We do this through creative writing courses, building connections through our online network and publishing the results in our magazine, HereComesEveryone.
2. How did your entrepreneurial journey begin?
Through knowing several people with publishing skills who could not gain employment or even work experience opportunities, we wanted to create more chances for people to get involved in the world of publishing.
3. What has been your biggest achievement so far? Publishing our very first HereComesEveryone magazine, The Riots Issue, on the anniversary of the 2011 England riots. We provided one of the only major artistic responses to the event, one year on, with submissions of poetry, fiction and articles from the UK and all over the world. We offered a different perspective on both the riots and the rioters themselves.
4. Where do you see your company in 5 years?
HereComesEveryone magazine and Silhouette Press books will be on sale throughout the UK and the publishing industry will be more about the creative individual than multinational conglomerates.
