Red Mountain Goodness Celebrates First Anniversary R

ed Mountain Goodness was born in Rougemont, NC in February 2012.

Todd Hinson started making goat milk soap to help his wife Jill’s seasonal dry skin, and soon friends asked if they could buy it. Todd & Jill decided to partner with a local Animal Welfare Approved goat dairy and scaled up to commercial levels. We spoke with the Hinson’s about their business: We make a variety of soaps and shampoo bars at our homestead in Rougemont, using whole goat milk, natural essential oils and hair and skin nourishing olive, coconut and jojoba oils. Our ingredient labels are simple. We don’t use chemical “fragrances” or palm oil, typical of most commer- cial soaps. Whole goat milk contains vitamins and minerals that are great for the skin, and the high cream content is moisturizing. The beneficial properties of essential oils are well documented, and for those trying to reduce their chemical exposure, eliminating fra- grances can be an important step. Our soaps and shampoo bars have a rich, creamy lather that is noticeably differ- ent from commercial products. To celebrate our first birthday, we

now have a Golden Ticket Prize Offer going for our fans. Three of our cus- tomers will find beautiful golden tickets wrapped with bars of our soap, and each ticket is good for 25 free bars...

worth over $185. In addition to soap making, we have

bee hives, vegetable gardens, shiitake mushrooms, and a flock of laying hens. We like to say that our soaps are gifts from nature, and they come from a good home!
