Thurston Moore W

ithout looking backwards

(the very purpose of Liveline is to look forward!), it has been a mixed start to the New Year. HMV went into administration, which is obviously awful news. But then quite a lot of artists have announced /released new material; YYYs, MBV, Nick Cave, Low, Destiny’s Child, Te Flaming Lips, to name the few that I can remember. Gigs are becoming even more and even more important in supporting musicians and making sure that they can afford to keep making music. I doubt that artists I mentioned are having cash crises, but with HMV in trouble, it is important to stay aware and make sure you value the music that you love not just with your hearts and your ears, but with your £££.

ANYWAY, on Monday 4ththere is a great sort of punk rock show atTe Blueberry. It is rare for them to have originals, so go and bask in it, my friends. Te show features It’s Not OK + Rats as Big as Dogs + Flicker + Victory.

I am calling this month an excellent month for NAC,and Patrick Wolf (Acoustic) on 6th is part of the reason why. More on that later.

Ten, on the next night, Friday 22nd, it’s a lovely wombat wombat night. Tis will be a very loud and excellent show. Headlining the night is Negative Pegasus, who

are from Brighton and play noisy psyche music. Supporting them are the brilliantBalaclava Kid and Dad. If you haven’t seen BK and Dad live yet, then you really should; it’s thick and intense and AWESOME. Oh, and this gig takes place atNAC.

To end the month, I am going to tell you about two gigs that are wedged either side of my birthday. Tat way, if you see me at one, you can buy me a drink.
