Check it. Stunt – THE SPECIAL FLIP (The Red Bull Challenge – usually done on BMX bikes): while the motocross bike is aerial the biker jumps off, does a back flip while bike glides in a straight line then lands back on before bike hits the ground. Stunt – SUPER STUNT: while motocross bike is aerial the biker grabs the rear fender with both hands so that they’re basically doing a handstand then jumps back to land on the bike before it hits the ground. It had to be seen to be believed. There were somersaults, crazy freestyles, they even got two audience members involved.
The highest? The Gigant-A-Ramp, hitting the unbelievable height of 50 feet – you could pretty much touch the Arena ceiling from the top! 50 feet and yet the crazy NCL sportsters hurled themselves off it on various wheeled and not objects, including a boogie board, ice cooler AND FOAM HAND!
Aside from the amazing stunts Nitro Circus also left me inspired by two stories. First, Aaron ‘Wheelz’ Fotheringham, wheelchair bound due to Spina Bifida, this hasn’t stopped 21 year old Aaron from being one of the top NCL sportsters. Nitro Circus Live cast a spell on me. It was like the movie BIG; on the outside a 32 year old woman on the inside, the 7 year old me. Visibly open-mouthed, jumping up and down in my seat at the incredible stunts being performed right before my eyes. At every stunt all I could say was variations of OMG, WOW and WHOA, I’m sure at one point I even sounded like Joey from Blossom.
BMX’er too! At the O2 he ‘threw a front flip’(see pic above) and showcased his passion determination and crazy guts with a second attempt when the first didn’t go to plan. Second, Jolene Van Vugt a female NCL sportster who made her first appearance since a serious injury and surgery had kept her out for 18 months. Not only a class act FMX’er, this fearless uber-woman pretty much hurled herself off the Gigant-A-Ramp on anything & everything – toy Barbie car anyone. Can only imagine what her insurance bill is like!
