Ryan Shaw is a doctoral student in music education at Michigan State University. Ryan received bachelors (2006) and masters degrees (2011) in music education from the University of Michigan. For the last 6 school years, he taught instrumental music at the middle and high school level in Berkley, Michigan and Cedar Springs, Michigan. Ryan’s bands received high marks at district and state level festivals and also engaged in projects focused on technology and commissioning new works. Ryan’s research interests include the culture of secondary instrumental music, creativity, and comprehensive musicianship. He has presented his research at the Michigan Music Conference.
