VOLUME 3
Denise Shepherd Executive Principal of the
Rochester Grammar School (UK)
and Thinking Schools International Director outlines the need to create a Leadership Module for the i-think project for Malaysian
teachers which she began to work on in November with officials from Ministry of Education and other relevant agencies.
The
Leadership Module for the i-think project is to be designed to both support and challenge Malaysian school leaders to lead
“Thinking Schools”. This will build capacity in Malaysian schools themselves to drive this exciting initiative forward successfully.
The project has the power to transform Malaysian education and create modern 21st century schools that will nurture a new generation of independently thinking and creative
young people and it is important to work productively to achieve this.
The final version of the module should have a majority of Malaysian examples and materials. These will include training materials on
leadership skills and whole school planning using thinking tools such as flow maps. These will be used in conjunction with existing lesson planning forms used in
teacher training, lesson observation or monitoring forms used and planning grids or formats they currently use in schools.
