Christmas is always Special at the Barge with its 30ft christmas tree and lights that reflect across the shimmering waters of the River Medway in the back drop of the romantic Archbishops Palace and the old world street lighting that runs along the water's edge, sets the scene for the warm welcome you will receive from our friendly staff before being seated to enjoy 3 courses of festive fair made from the very best of seasonal Kentish produce. Add the crackers, silly hats, jokes and a lot of drink.

CHRISTMAS PARTY SETMENU 2012 Available from mid-November Starters


Parsnip, apple and chestnut soup with parsnip crisps and truffle oil Classic prawn cocktail, iceberg lettuce and prawn crisp


Kentish blue cheese and marinated beetroot tartlet poached hens egg, 8 year old balsamic and hollandaise sauce (v) Homemade Kentish terrine of foie gras, game & ham hock, with scotch egg and toasted country bread and pear chutney

Butter roasted turkey, Goose fat Roasted potatoes, sage & onion stuffing, Pigs in blankets, seasonal vegetables and Red wine gravy Rib of Kentish beef, Yorkshire pudding, goose fat roasted potatoes, seasonal vegetables and red wine gravy


Pan-roasted fillet of sea bream on dill mashed potatoes, buttered spinach, roasted fennel and lemon butter sauce Wild mushrooms risotto, roasted Jerusalem artichokes and smoked garlic cream


Desserts Christmas pudding, brandy butter and Ginger sauce


Chocolate and macadamia nut brownie with pistachio ice cream and vanilla panna cotta Profiteroles filled with baileys cream with hot chocolate sauce Apple and quince crumble with cinnamon ice cream

New Riverside Restaurant Menu The Barge has launched a totally new look menu for this autumn which offers even better value for money: 2 courses for £12 and 3 courses for £15. This menu is now broader and offers both casual and celebration dining and all made from fresh local produce by our talented chefs. There is now a range of delicious Starters, Light Mains, Meat & Fish dishes and not forgetting our fantastic tender Steaks and Sharing Dishes.
