CREW Offers Guided Walks and Events


N


ature enthusiasts can explore area sanctuaries during guided walks conducted by the Corkscrew Regional Ecosystem Watershed (CREW) Land & Water Trust in November and Decem- ber. Leading naturalists and volunteers will lead tours that showcase South- west Florida’s wildlife and ecological wonders. Walks exploring the CREW Marsh Trails in Immokalee are scheduled from 9 to 11:30 a.m., November 6, 10 and 20 and December 4, 8 and 18. Treks along the Bird Rookery Swamp Trails, in Naples, are planned from 9 to 11:30 a.m. each Wednesday, and photography workshops at the same location will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., November 12 and December 10.


A presentation on the fascinating world of bats will be offered from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., November 15, at the CREW Cypress Dome Trails, in Immokalee; and Florida panthers, deer, black bears and alligators may be spotted during a walk taking place from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., November 9, at Bird Rookery Swamp Trails.


Costs: Most hikes are free admission, donations appreci- ated. Nov. 9 event: $5/members, $10/nonmembers; Nov. 12, 15 and Dec. 10 events: $15/members, $25/nonmembers. Fruit Tree Sale at Freedom Park


A


fruit tree sale will be conducted by the Collier Fruit Growers, Inc., from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., November 3, at Freedom Park, in Naples. More than 20 varieties will be offered, including cherry, bananas, carambola (starfruit), citrus, fig, guava, papaya, mango, pomegranate and sugar apple.


Along with distributing tropical and subtropical fruit trees, the nonprofit organization offers education programs to encourage and extend cultivation.
