Boat Tours, Art Shows Highlight Rookery Bay Events

pportunities to experience nature in the water and view and cre- ate art on land will be offered at the Rookery Bay Nature Estuarine Research Reserve and Environmental Learning Center, in Naples, during the next two months. Saturday hours are also being added from November through April. A Florida Fish and Game Art Fusion exhibit of works by Miami-based artist, angler and former Tarpon Bay Tales TV show producer and host Capt. Alex Suescun is on view through Novem- ber 9. Friends of Rookery Bay and the United Arts Council of Collier County will present the seventh annual Juried Painting Exhibition from November 15 through January 31, with works sub- mitted by artists from Collier and Lee counties. Most of the paintings will be for sale.


Guided kayak tours of Rookery Bay, Hall Bay and mangrove tunnels provide an opportunity to see birds, marine mammals and other sights of nature from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. each Friday in November and December. Other highlights include lectures, nature photography workshops and special boat tours to various locations in the Rookery area and Marco Island. Daily programs that are free with admission are offered at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., and include wildlife presenta- tions, plant walks, nature films and marine critter touch tank encounters.
