Dedication ceremony to late husband
South East Cornwall MP Sheryll Murray has attended a moving dedication ceremony to her late husband Neil, as part of the thanksgiving service for the Harvest of the Sea.
Mr Murray, a popular Looe trawlerman, tragically lost his life while fishing single handedly in March 2011.
The service was conducted by Mrs Murray’s sister-in law, Rev Jill Murray, at the Cawsand Congregational Church.
There was a special prayer of dedication for a model of Mr Murray’s vessel MFV Our Boy Andrew, which was constructed by
Joe Bussell of the Looe Model Boat Society.
Mrs Murray was joined in these prayers by the superintendents and other personnel from the Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen.
The model will now reside in the church as a permanent memorial.
Following the service Mrs Murray said: ‘It was a very special celebration to my wonderful husband Neil and I would like to thank everyone for attending.
‘I would in particular like to thank Joe for enabling such a fitting tribute to be placed in the church of Neil’s home village.’
