TRIBUTES: IN MEMORY
IN MEMORY OF JEANNIE RAWLEY
Beloved Third Grade teacher Jeannie Rawley left
behind a legacy of inspiration when she died unexpectedly on December 31, 2011. She had been at
OES for 12 years. In addition to her
classroom teaching, she had taught yoga to students
and colleagues and was known as a knitter, dragon boat paddler, cyclist, and friend. She shared fruit and lavender that she grew on her Hood River-area farm, and she often brought her dog Bodie with her to school. She will be
missed by her colleagues, former students, and many friends.
IN MEMORY OF BISHOP DUNLAP DAGWELL
Dennis O’Leary’s father died when Dennis was a child. Bishop Dagwell took the young boy under his wing, providing guidance
during Dennis’ childhood and youth. From altar boy to assistant, Dennis appreciated the Bishop’s mentoring influence throughout his life. Dennis was buried with the Bible which the Bishop had given him years earlier. The relationship was so meaningful to Dennis that he ensured he could leave a tribute by designating a portion of his life insurance to provide a gift in memory of Bishop Benjamin Dunlap Dagwell.
In 1965, a boys’ school was founded on the campus of St. Helen’s Hall and was named for Bishop Benjamin Dunlap Dagwell, who had served as Bishop of Oregon from 1936-1958.
