JANUARY is Arts Month with world class art and photography shows including Photo LA, Los Angeles Art Show and Art Los Angeles contemporary that bring galleries from around the world together to exhibit and sell art.


FEBRUARY is Academy Awards Month, celebrated with an exhibit of nominated costumes at the Fashion Institute for Design and Merchandising, nominee discussion panels at the Egyptian Theatre and public viewing parties.


MARCH is LA Marathon when 25,000 runners make their way from Dodger Stadium in Downtown LA to the beach in Santa Monica.


In APRIL race fans congregate at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, Downtown LA puts on the biggest Mexican party in the US for the 11-block Fiesta Broadway and the Renaissance Pleasure Faire kicks off 6 weekends of Elizabethan festivities.


In MAY Los Angeles celebrates Cinco de Mayo with festivals all over town and the Garden Grove Strawberry Festival showcases the glories of the locally grown berry.

In JUNE Rodeo Drive closes down for Father’s Day Sunday to host the Beverly Hills Concours d’Elegance car show and the Playboy Jazz Festival takes over the famous Hollywood Bowl outdoor amphitheatre.


In JULY, LA goes all out for US Independence Day on the 4th of July. In addition to patriotic parades and fireworks, the outdoor Muscle Beach Gym at Venice Beach hosts the annual Mr. and Mrs. Muscle Beach body building pageant.


AUGUST is the Los Angeles Food & Wine Festival with over 100 celebrity chefs and 200 wineries showcasing their best offerings at dozens of events over four days.


In SEPTEMBER the LA County Fair runs for four weeks and the Feast of San Gennaro Italian Festival takes place in Hollywood the last full weekend.


OCTOBER celebrates the best of LA’s special effects artists with all things Halloween. Disneyland, Universal Studios, Knott’s Berry Farm, Six Flags Magic Mountain and The Queen Mary ship attraction all get a spooky Halloween makeover and haunted houses, theatres, forests and other venues magically appear.


NOVEMBER kicks off ice skating season in Los Angeles, where you can skate at outdoor rinks from Downtown LA to Santa Monica in your bikini. It’s also the Intertribal Marketplace at the Autry National Center, showcasing and selling the handicrafts of LA’s large Native American community.


DECEMBER is a great time to visit LA. The city and theme parks are decked out for the holidays, and the calendar is choc full of boat parades, holiday concerts and other festivities.
