Visions

From the need to prepare for climate change to the struggle to develop a sustainable economy, societies are driven by the desire to manipulate the future in a positive way. To achieve this, however, first they must try to predict it through art, literature, religious prophecy, and science. The IAS Futures year explored the many connections that join history to an uncertain future.

What lessons does history hold for our present and future? What new technologies will alter our future?

How do we imagine time through art and literature? How can we build sustainable futures for our descendents?
