“We’ve already been offered 150,000 more than we paid for our large villa”
Tracy Pullee and her husband, Steve, from Evesham, in Worcestershire, have now bought two villas in Kalkan, after researching resorts in Turkey. The fi rst, two years ago, was a new three-bed, three-bath villa, with an infi nity pool (above), which cost £350,000, and which rents for £1,200- £1,975 a week. Then in June this year, they bought a fi ve-bed villa for £550,000, which is fully booked for the summer at £3,800 a week (both on

The latter has three master suites – one with its own outdoor Jacuzzi, as well as a large pool, fully equipped gym and indoor Jacuzzi. “After considering Ölüdeniz and Hisaronu
[bigger resorts further west], we identifi ed Kalkan as the sort of place where people want high-end villas, and return time after time to stay in them,” says Tracy, a teacher.
“We remortgaged our UK home to pay for our
fi rst property – which was fully booked for a year within four months – and then ploughed the profi ts into our second property, for which we got a mortgage from Bank BNP Paribas. “Basically, out rentals income covers our mortgage, and, because Steve is self-employed, the properties are our pension plan. “We’ve already been offered £150,000 more than we paid for our large villa [below). “We use a great management company, to whom we pay
£1,900 a year to maintain the properties, and extra to do cleaning and housekeeping.” But while a great hands-free investment, the Pullees have since fallen for Kalkan themselves, and stay in their properties with their three children at the beginning and end of the season. “The views are amazing, because we are up on a hill. There are no nightclubs and the people are so genuinely friendly,” says Tracy.
“We’ve never had any bad service here, and, after much travelling around the world, think the quality of restaurants is really high.”
Both the Pullee villas are in the area of Ortaalan, which is in vogue, to the west of the town centre (see map, on page 32), up on the hill.
