We’ve shown Fran and Reg four homes in Annecy. So what is their next move? Let’s fi nd out what they’re thinking now...
Fran and Reg: While one of us (Reg) was all for selling up and putting all our money into a French house, the other (Fran) was keen to try living in this part of France fi rst, while keeping a foothold in the UK. Any prizes for guessing who won the argument? So, we have decided that we will probably downsize from our family home to a smaller one, though still in Salisbury, and use the remainder of the cash to buy a mobile home on a park in France. We have found some lovely homes that are specially designed to be used for winter and summer, so we can ski in winter and hike and kayak in summer. They are very reasonably priced from €33,000, and if you agree to rent it out for six weeks in the summer, you don’t even have to pay any rent for the rest of the year. We like the look of one on the shores of Lake Plassy, near
Annecy. We are going down there to have a look at some next week! If we do this, we can reconsider the lock, stock and barrel move in a couple of years when more of our pensions kick in, and we have a better idea of the area and business opportunities. It’s an incredibly exciting time for us.
