Lions Club of Looe Carnival 2012


Sunday, July 29th to Saturday,August 4th


The Looe Carnival is the highlight of the Looe Lions' event calandar with a week of events that cater for the interests of all ages and interests.


All the events are entertaining for you and your family and give you the opportunity to support the Looe Lions charities and other local charitable organisations in their good works.


The carnival week will run from Sunday, July 29th to Saturday, August 4th.


• Sunday 29th July Coast and Country 14th Vintage and Classic Transport Display incorporating: all day; car boot sale; West Wayland. Gates open for car booters from 8.00am, parade of vehicles with side-shows, rides, demonstrations, bar, refreshments and entertainment. Admission only £2.00 per car, including parking all day. Proceeds in aid of Lions Club charities and good causes


•Monday, July 30th Carnival Royalty Choosing Open to children of primary school age, resident in the club area. Assemble for judging at 6.30pm in West Looe Square (outside the fire station) followed by Looe’s own traditional Floral Dance - led by St. Pinnock and Liskeard Silver Bands. Adult and junior groups (of four). Traditional or fancy dress - prizes to be won and souvenir certificates for all entrants. Starts from West Looe Square at 7.30pm


•Tuesday, July 31st Annual Carnival Fun Run Adult and juniors plus U13s Mini Fun Run. Start on West Looe Quay and through the woods! Entry fee: adult £3.00; U18 £1.50 Medals for all finishers plus class trophies. Entrants’ registration from 4.30pm with the run starting at 6.30pm. Sheila’s School of Dance presentation at Looe Community School 7:30 pm

• Thursday, August 2nd Polperro Fishermen’s Choir in Concert, 8:00pm, Sea Front / Lifeboat House. Sheila’s School of Dance presentation at Looe Community School 7:30 pm


• Friday, August 3rd Traditional Seaside Entertainment for Children (of all ages) including: Paul Scott’s Punch and Judy Show; Balloon Modelling; Magical Fun. East Looe Beach from 2.00pm. Entrance to this event is free.

Sponsored 3 Legged Race (Fancy Dress optional) in aid of Ellie’s Haven. Meet 7.00pm Fire Station for 7.30pm - starting from The Jolly Sailor ending at The Boscarn.

• Saturday, August 4th Fire Station Open Day in aid of the Firemen's Benevolent Fund.


Grand Carnival Procession


Assemble for judging at 6.00pm prompt at Marine Drive, Hannafore. Parade moves off at 7.00pm to East Looe led by St Pinnock and Liskeard Silver Bands, City of Plymouth Pipe Band, majorettes, floats and walkers. Collections for Lions’ charities - please give generously.
