Fay’s mission for fishermen
Fay Hancock, of Looe, achieved a double success when she took part in the Bristol 10k – not only was it her first time entering a race, but she also raised more than £800 in sponsorship for the Fishermen’s Mission.
‘It was a fantastic experience which I completed in one hour 25 minutes,’ said Fay.
‘My training over the past three months certainly paid off and, as this was my first real race experience, I was delighted with what I achieved.
‘I would like to thank the Looe Fishermen’s Protection Association who kindly donated £100 and all my sponsors and supporters who helped me raise £844.50 for the caring work of Fishermen’s Mission.’

‘Bid to thwart Tesco plan’
A couple who are opposed to a plan by Tesco to build a new store next to their land in Looe, have come up with their own planning application which they say is aimed at annoying the retail giant.
Landowner Bradley Ring and his wife Kathrina, of Valley View Stables in Barbican Road, have applied for a ten-pitch traveller transit site.
‘It is quite simple,’ said Mrs Ring. ‘If Tesco retract their planning application, we will withdraw ours.’
The Rings already have permission for one mobile home, along with mixed use of the land to include existing stables, the siting of a touring caravan and construction of an amenity block.
Mrs Ring, of Irish travelling descent, said Tesco had approached her husband on several occasions wanting to buy their 26 acres of land, but they had always refused as they want to keep the area in its natural green state.
Eighteen objections have been lodged against the Rings’ plan.
