Caroline is top of the shops
A staff member at The Co-operative in Looe has won a prestigious national award for her exceptional customer service.
Caroline Dodd, who is from Liskeard, was presented with the Customer Champion award at the Co-operative’s Good With Food Awards event, which aims to recognise excellence across The Co-operative’s food business.
Caroline was nominated by a customer who witnessed her going far beyond her call of duty to help an 80-year-old woman with her shopping.
Not only did she help her find what she was looking for, she continued
to take the basket and walked around with her while shopping, and then took her to the till, packed her bags and made sure she was okay before she left.
‘I was absolutely delighted to be shortlisted for this award but I never dreamed I would win,’ said Caroline.
‘Our customers in Looe are great to work with, and I really enjoy getting to know the customers and helping them when possible.’
Louisa Westlake, store manager, said: ‘Caroline is a great team player and she always does go that extra mile for customers.
Caroline Dodd receives her award from David Mockford from The Co-operative.
‘It’s fantastic that her kindness and thoughtfulness has been recognised on a national level, and, while I’m sure she is embarrassed about the attention, she is totally deserving and I’m very proud to have her in my store.’
New recruit
A 20-year-old from Looe was among the successful Royal Navy recruits on parade at HMS Raleigh to mark the end of his basic training.
Ricky Manning (pictured) is a former pupil of Looe Community College and studied at Duchy College prior to embarking on his Naval career.
‘I joined the Royal Navy to see the world,’ he said. ‘It’s been a hard course with many challenges along the way.’
Ricky is now serving on HMS Sultan in Hampshire, learning the skills in marine engineering to keep the ship running smoothly and safely.
