Summer is all about looking and feeling good. It’s about getting out of the house, hanging with pals, meeting new people and having a great time. Summer by its nature is also about color and trends. It’s the one season that you can look great without breaking the bank. If you shop trends remember to never, ever, ever pay full price, or go too expensive. Shop smart baby and you can put the moolah you save toward those big summer nights!
Here are Summer 2012’s biggest trends from the top designers and their inexpensive yet stylish counterparts:
1. Trend - The bomber jacket as seen in the movie Drive with super hot Ryan Gosling. The look is a holdover from 2011 and still strong.
Splurge - Versace yellow suede bomber.
Bargain - Fred Perry red cotton bomber.
2. Trend - Khaki as a neutral used to calm down brights.
4. Trend - Dressed up track pants look cooler than cool and fashion forward. Splurge - Calvin Klein Collection blue reverse pleated pant. Bargain - Diesel Black Gold black elastic waist pant.
5. Trend- Prep never goes out of style but now in modern shapes ala
shrunken blazers, it looks hipper than ever.
Splurge - Gant by Michael Bastian plaid blazer.
Bargain - Lands End Canvas madras blazer.
6. Trend- Bright bottoms are a cool alternative to chinos and add a jolt of personality. Splurge - Etro coral trouser. Bargain - H&M yellow 5 pocket slim pant.
Splurge - Marc by Marc Jacobs tan shrunken blazer.
Bargain - J. Crew khaki blazer.
3. Trend- White shorts and trousers will look uber fresh for summer and match everything. Splurge - Acne baggy white short shorts. Bargain - Zara linen trouser with piping.
