Get inspired, catch the vibe. The eight-week festival will have

a wide range of daily activities including nightly live music, jazz concerts, wine and chocolate pairings, cooking demon- strations, guided art tours and art workshops. Several special one-day events return this year including the popular Festival Runway Fashion Show and the Acura Celebrity Concert Event. Festival visitors will also have an opportunity to view and

purchase original paintings, sculpture, printmaking, pho- tography, ceramics, jewelry and furniture from artists around Orange County. Since opening in 1932, thousands have shown and sold their artwork at the Festival. Many Festival artists now have their work featured in the private collections of leading art collectors, celebrities and museums around the world. New in 2012 is TGIF@FOA – “Thank Goodness it’s Friday

at Festival of Arts!” They invite you to kick off the weekend at the Festival with micro-brew beers, gourmet pretzels and live music. The Festival of Arts is also pleased to introduce a free audio tour where visitors can use their cell phones to listen to recorded greetings from the exhibiting artists at each booth. There are, of course, a number of LGBT artists featured in

The Festival of Arts including Mike Tauber whose body of work includes murals in paint, fine art ceramic tiles and cement wall reliefs. Tauber has a landscape tile work featured in this year’s show. “My works in tile include landscapes in the Early Califor- nia style, national parks, tree studies and koi fish. Prospective, light source, and rich painterly texture are important aspects of my work,” notes Tauber. Tauber got his start after completing his Bachelor’s Degree

in Environmental Design in the College of Fine Arts at San Diego State University. He first worked as an architectural illustrator and draftsman then became a fine art muralist in the late 1990s. During this time he completed commissions in Baja California, Queensland Australia, Rio de Janeiro Brazil and throughout the western United States. Tauber also teaches art classes in Laguna, often at the

Pacific Marine Mammal Center where aspiring artists can tour the center, view sea lions then enjoy an art class. Classes range from $15 to $20 dollars and all supplies are included. Check out the Laguna Outreach for Community Arts Calendar (LOCAarts.org). So go! Pack a picnic and have a beautiful day in Laguna pursuing art, meet cool artist like Tauber and then see the 80th Pageant of the Masters! It will be pure genius. And you’re build- ing good karma—The Festival of Arts is a non-profit organiza- tion. Proceeds support the arts and art education in and about Laguna Beach.

The 2012 Festival of Arts runs Sunday, July 1 through Friday, August 31 and The Pageant of the Masters “The Genius” will be performed nightly from Saturday, July 7, through Friday, August 31. For tickets and more information call 949.497.6852, toll free 800.487.3378 or go to pageanttickets.com.
