TRAIL RUNNERS in the north of England can look forward to an October bonanza with the final two events of the 2012 Salomon Trailtour taking place at Kielder (October
6/7) in Northumberland and at Ennerdale (October 21) in Lake District National Park. Billed as ‘Britain’s most beautiful marathon’, Kielder was a sell out in 2010 and 2011 and organisers expect to build on this success in year 3. Kielder water is a great outdoor recreational location with a variety of accommodation and there is a 10k on the Saturday, so all sorts of partner or run/spectate options. Two weeks later the Salomon Trailtour caravan arrives in Ennerdale, a remote valley on the western fringes of the Lakes and a spectacular location for trail running. It is surrounded by iconic mountains Great Gable, Pillar and Haystacks, providing a natural backdrop full of dramatic ridges and wooded slopes. There are 10k and 25k event options.
