s Bally Technologies celebrates 80 years of innovati on in 2012, it is very appropriate that I am writi ng the foreword of a magazine that is focusing on

“technology” – a subject that is dear to our hearts and one that has ensured we have kept to the forefront of casino fl oors worldwide. For eight decades, Bally’s innovati ons,

people, and values have had a real and lasti ng impact on the global casino gaming industry. Founded in 1932, Bally is the oldest slot

manufacturing company in the world, getti ng its start with the inventi on of the Ballyhoo arcade game and debuti ng the Bally Baby slot machine four years later. Today, Bally Technologies has evolved and is one of the leading suppliers of games, systems, and mobile and interacti ve technologies for the worldwide casino gaming market, with annual revenues in fi scal year 2011 of $758 million. The Company maintains more than 25 offi ces around the

world and employs about 2,500 people, with more than 50 nati onaliti es represented in its employee base. With its global headquarters and more than 1,000 employees in Las Vegas, Bally leads the industry in innovati on, winning more than 40 innovati on awards for pioneering technologies over the past three years, as well as presti gious internati onal awards for customer service and support and for being the most innovati ve gaming-technology manufacturer. Bally’s innovati on-rich history includes being the fi rst

gaming company publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange (1975); introducing the fi rst slot-management system to connect games in a casino and provide slot- accounti ng and player-tracking data collecti on (1976); and launching the fi rst multi -denominati on wide-area progressive link (1999). More recently, the Company has been recognized for

taking its customer-driven innovati on even further with the inventi on of the Pro Series™ family of cabinets including the iDeck™ touch-screen butt on deck for slot machines that replaces butt ons with a sleek LCD display; and the Pro Series™ Curve slot cabinet that looks like a traditi onal spinning-reel game, but is really a video slot with a unique, curved display. Bally is also the only gaming technology company to

off er iVIEW Display Manager™ with the Elite Bonusing Suite™; a unique soluti on that provides casinos with picture-in-picture-style networked technology that enables them to off er bonusing and fl oor-wide gaming on slot machines across casino fl oors without interrupti ng game play.

This year, we took the iVIEW and Elite Bonusing Suite

to new levels as several casinos in the United States used the Elite Bonusing Suite’s DM Tournaments™ app to create giganti c, fl oor-wide slot tournaments on thousands of games on the casino fl oor – within minutes. This technology enables casinos to create fl oor-wide events that add tremendous excitement; reward players; provide a second-

chance-to-win; and create incredible new levels of marketi ng and PR power for the casino. Bally Technologies and one casino who used these slot-tournament soluti ons with the iVIEW both won Guinness World Records® achievements for the world’s largest slot tournament and most slot machines running the same game simultaneously at the same venue. All of this reiterates that today more

than ever, Bally is laser-focused on creati ng trailblazing games, mobile applicati ons, and interacti ve soluti ons that deliver an entertaining experience to casinos’ customers.

In 2012 Bally introduces two

showcase games – Michael Jackson’s King of Pop™ and Grease™. These world-class brands take Bally’s game portf olio to a

whole new level with highly recognized music, a wide range of bonus rounds, themed iDeck interacti ve features, multi - level progressives, the Pro surround-sound chair, and the people and imagery that have made these two brands so iconic. Bally’s games have become synonymous with off ering

deep levels of interacti on for players. Introduced nearly three years ago, our Cash Spin game conti nues to perform well on casino fl oors across the world with its U-Spin™ gesture-control technology that enables players to touch and spin a virtual wheel just like a real wheel. Aft er Cash Spin, we introduced a number of other games with the same U-Spin play mechanic – Code Red, Hot Spin™, Money Vault™, Golden Pharaoh™, Grease, and King of Pop, to name a few. New games such as SKEE-BALL®, All That Jazz™, Total Blast™, and the award-winning Fish’n for Loot™ enables players to touch and roll, play virtual piano keys, and shoot at objects on the screen by touching and launching “weapons” on the iDeck. Entertainment is at the heart of the Company’s new Bally

Interacti ve division, dedicated to off ering casino operators mobile and online play-for-free and wager-based games, enabling casinos to provide a powerful experience to their customer whether they are on the casino fl oor, at home, or on the move. The Company’s Bally Interacti ve division currently

off ers its business-to-business iGaming platf orm to casinos worldwide for wager-based and play-for-free applicati ons; a patent-pending, cloud-based mobile platf orm to enables casinos to create and manage external-facing apps and mobile websites for patrons and internal-facing apps for employees; and a deep library of proven casino-gaming content for the internet through our Remote Gaming Server.

The last 80 years have been an incredible journey for

Bally Technologies. Throughout those eight decades, the Company’s has transformed itself several ti mes, while never losing focus on its promise to pioneer innovati on that entertains and helps casinos operate more effi ciently.
