about a million years, and so this summer is going to be the best ever. If you’ve not caught the buzz yet, the big news in Norfolk is Playfest, a relatively young festival bringing some top notch acts to the East, competing with some of the big players on the UK festival circuit. Tis year’s line-up is eclectic and pretty excellent, with some great local artists also. Of course there’s gigs inside too – but even the night-time shows will be even more fun because it’s hot and sunny and nice. Enjoy it.

We start the month with a clash unfortunately, but they definitely both worth a mention and your attendance! On the 1st JuneHeart of a Doghave their EP Launch Party with Milly Hirst + Port IslaatTe Birdcage.On the same day, Mammal Hands + Te Boy with Two Heads + Silly Rabbit all play at the Rumsey Wells Underbelly.
Ten on the weekend of the2nd – 3rd June, that festival what I was talking about earlier calledPlayfest is happening atNew Eccles Hall in Quidenham. Tere are loads and loads of great bands playing, but here is a short cross section to whet you: Ash + Te Big Pink + Little Comets + Tellison + Tripwires + Solko + Feeder + Delilah + Scroobius Pip + Natty + Spector + Ria Ritchie + Alloy Ark + Rory McVicar + Te B Goodes + Dingus Khan.

ummer and festival season is here! Finally. It feels like it’s been cold for
Gravy Presents Sukoshi’s Album Launch! Te brilliant ‘Get In Te Tent’ was released a little while ago on Gravy Records (biased much!?), and this show at Olives will celebrate it! Support comes from Te Brownies.
Te 6th June sees the superbly namedElectric Youth Revolt bring their garage rock catalogue from Diss to theB2(behind and attached to sister venueTe Brickmakers), along with Kurt Martinez for an explosion of indie, rock and pop.
On the 8thNorwich Blues Explosion 2 is happening! Featuring Dove and Boweevil + Soho Blues, the event is happening atNorwich Arts Centre and will see headliners Dove and Boveevil performing with a bigger 6-piece band.
OnSunday 10thHowlback Hum Presentsa day of music at Te Playhouse. It’s a daytime affair, and the bands will perform between 4:00pm and 11:00pm. Tere are lots of acts playing, but some of the bill will follow… Danny Whitehouse + Ruby Nectar + She Spoke Blues + We Can’t Dance + ANDREW RAYNER + SOPHIE PORTER.
Waterfront,and on the 14th, classic ska band Bad Mannerscome to Norwich!
Saturday 16this a night of some pretty severe clashes. Gravy Presentsa celebration of Fever Fever’s recent cassette release on Jen Long’s label ‘Kissability’, which sold out almost immediately. Fever Fever + Bitches play at Oliveson Magdalen Street. Ten across the city, Te Tilting Sky presents the amazing and totally dance-along- able Sargasso TrioatOPEN. Finally, Spectro Presents Hyetal + D/R/U/G/S atNorwich Arts Centre on the same night. Choose wisely!
I hate to dwell on clashes, BUT on 18th there are more! Marina and the Diamonds are at Te Waterfront. At Norwich Arts Centre,we have one of the hardest-working bands on the US roots music circuit; Hillfolk Noir are from Boise, Idaho, and they have a massive Stateside following. So catch them at NAC whilst you can!

Centre.Support comes from Collider,who celebrate their single launch on the same night!
Finally, on the 30th atNorwich Arts Centre it is New Performance with special guest Richard Layzell. Also performing will be artists supported by Escalator Performing Arts : Ira Brand + John Boursnell + Tatty-Del + Holly Rumble.
