13-15 JULY 2012 Somewhere nr Stevenage – to be revealed! SOUNDFLOW FESTIVAL 2012
If there’s one think that the brains behind Soundflow knew, it’s that on the festival scene, the major disciplines of dance, hip hop and reggae were being under-represented. Not content with seeing a token reggae tent, or a remote dance stage at the precipice of a festival’s playing ground, Soundflow concocted a festival where those three titans of music would get their day – or weekend. From their own clever mouths, “Soundflow is coming rumbling underground ready to burst out into the sunshine of summer 2012. Forget the apocalypse, forget the Olympics, this event is the only event that will get the earth moving. Tree main stages will be bringing you an electric mix of musical mayhem - from booty-shaking bass-lines of reggae, hip-hop & dance hall, to skanking ska, rinse-out jungle, bone shaking break-core & dark-side drum & bass.” Even though the location is still to be revealed, there is a local connection with stages being hosted by Soundflow, Concrete Roots, the Amen-tal crew and Jungle Syndicate. After a number of warm-up events, helping you flex your festival muscle, two of which were held at the Norfolk Showground, you should be fully immersed in Soundflow anticipation, but if you’re still deliberating, the heavy- hitters on the line-up will seal the deal, with Rodney P, Jehst, Solo Banton, Si Begg, Al Tourettes, Irie Ites, Bush Chemists and WAY more all in attendance.

06-07 JULY 2012 London Pleasure Gardens BLOC WEEKEND 2012
It’s the music weekend that has grown from its origins at a Norfolk holiday park, burst out of the county’s seams to move proceedings near Bristol, and now sees the weekend hit the big time in the Big Smoke, taking over London’s Pleasure Gardens on the bank of the Tames. We’re talking, of course, about BLOC. Tey have moved forward in every way since their humble Norfolk origins, and this year the line-up gets the most diverse and notable. Experimental composer Steve Reich sits along side the D. O. double G, Mr Snoop Doogg himself, with acts like Four Tet, Joy Orbison, James Blake, Ricardo Villalobos, Orbital, Squarepusher and more backing them up. Adding a monolithic element to the party is the specially coordinated mooring of the MS Stubnitz, a colossus of German military ship-building, reimagined into the most exciting venue of all time. Bloc say about the vessel, “Te hull of the ship was gradually modified – both in terms of the performance space and the audio installation. An atrium gallery looks over a main dancefloor, creating an industrial, hi-spec venue inside a maritime monument to Europe’s recent, turbulent history. A second club space at the bow of the vessel as well as the deck are also fully kitted out for Bloc-specced throwdowns.” BLOC are reinventing festival perception, and we want to jump on board with them.
