MUSIC: IN FOCUS 2K11 – 2K12

Last year, Outline and BBC Voices’ music photography exhibition, Music: in Focus, saw around 40 images blown up to iconic proportions as local photographers, local and international musicians were celebrated in visual form. The exhibition aimed to showcase a year in music photography connected to Norfolk, whether that be a Norfolk band touring abroad, an international band snapped by a local photographer, or a chance opportunity capturing music in its variant forms within our area boundaries. Where the exhibition started last year, this year we hope to build on it further by taking submissions again from now ‘til the end of August. The only credentials needed are an East Anglian connection, and a photo dated some time between September 2011 and August 2012. The images submitted will be assessed and some chosen for the display, which this year moves into the Millennium Library itself from September 10th – 24th. The exhibition will run alongside the year’s programme of events for the BBC Music Video Festival. CAN’T WAIT FOR LATITUDE? HAVE A LITTLE PATIENCE FIRST…

With less than a couple of months before we roll out our tents and unfurl our sleeping arrangements, you could be forgiven for counting down the days ‘til Latitude, and in particular, their unrivalled showcase of the best from the poetry world. To tide you over, however, Luke Wright, host and co- curator of Latitude's Poetry Arena, brings a bit of the Latitude magic to Norwich Arts Centre for the new monthly Latitude poetry club at the venue. After an inspiring and successful first show, the second show features Patience Agbabi, a "next generation" poet, whose poems have been broadcast on television and radio all over the world, from the London Underground to human skin. She'll be debuting some of her rewritten Canterbury Tales for those in attendance. Support comes from Fringe First Winner Hannah Jane Walker and the Ivor Cutler-esque Liz Bentley. Support comes from Apples & Snakes. The show starts at 8pm and tickets cost £7.00, or £5.00 for concessions. For details on all the NAC shows, go to www.norwichartscentre.co.uk
