FIA joins forces with RoSPA
A new partnership to improve the “quality and safety” of the UK’s physical activity sector has been announced by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) and the Fitness Industry Association (FIA). Te two organisations have
joined forces in order to col- laborate in a number of areas, which will include policy, industry schemes, campaigns and training programmes. More than 3,000 FIA mem-
bers will be able to access RoSPA services including a telephone helpline offering free initial advice on water and leisure health and safety issues. Members will also have the chance to report

Health and racquet club operator David Lloyd Leisure has launched a new coach- ing programme designed to teach young people the core skills of gymnastics. Gymnastics All Stars is backed by Total
Gymnastics – founded by Beth Tweddle – and will help children develop skills in strength, flexibility and co-ordination. It is initially being offered to three- and

New-look Hadleigh facility to open later this summer
Te £2.4m Hadleigh Community Facility in Suffolk is on track for a late summer reopening, having undergone an extensive redevelopment since October 2011. When completed, the centre will include
a dance studio, a health and fitness suite, a 25m pool and a community room. Jennie Jenkins, chairman of Babergh

Work to start on Windsor gym expansion
The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead has said that work is to begin on a £320,000 gym expansion at Windsor Leisure Centre, Berkshire, next month. J Coffey Construction has
been selected to carry out the work, which is due for com- pletion in early 2013 and will see around £40,000 invested in new equipment. Windsor Leisure Centre’s
BodyZone currently houses 175 stations, including cv machines, fixed and free weights and specialised equip- ment such as Power Plates. The work will see the gym expanded
