Goals Soccer Centres has said that Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan now has until 11 June to either lodge a takeover bid or con- firm its intent to acquire the business. Te Canadian pension fund had received


a 14-day extension to an initial 30 April deadline – allowing more time for it to sig- nal its interest in the football facility group, which expired at 5pm on 14 May. However, an announcement has yet to be

Contractor appointed for Telford ice rink overhaul


Telford and Wrekin Council has appointed construction group Morgan Sindall as the main contractor for the proposed refurbish- ment of the Shropshire town’s ice rink. Te scheme is part of the wider £250m


Southwater development and will include internal and external improvements, as well as an extension with soſt play facilities. Meanwhile, a new restaurant or bar will

London Assembly member slams Olympic Park plans


London Assembly member John Biggs has criticised the “unacceptable” delay in opening up the entire Olympic Park to the public, following this summer’s Games. As reported in Leisure Opportunities

with consultancies Futurecity and BOP Consulting, the new proposals seek to spark debate and stimulate ideas from across development, plan- ning, cultural and creative sectors to form new thinking and partnerships to create new places. Feedback on the proposals will influ- ence future council policy in this area.

Olympic Stadium decision delayed


A decision over the future of London’s Olympic Stadium has been delayed once again after the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) extended the bid pro- cess by eight weeks. It comes aſter issues arose


following the issue of the Invitation to Tender (ITT) in January, which LLDC said may have deterred some inter- ested parties from bidding to takeover the venue. However, LLDC stressed


that its aspiration of having the contracts for the conver- sion of the stadium signed by October had not changed despite the extension. A 99-year lease is being made available


Te future of London’s Olympic Stadium is still to be resolved by LLDC LLDC chief executive Andrew Altman said:


for the Olympic Stadium, which is currently scheduled to reopen aſter the Games in 2014. West Ham United Football Club are among the interested parties.

£75m for University of Birmingham campus scheme University of Birmingham vice-chancellor


New leisure facilities are to be provided as part of the University of Birmingham’s cam- pus development, which has received £75m from the European Investment Bank and will lead to the overhaul of its teaching, research and campus facilities.
