As a result, the salon smells like a spa, rather than a hair salon,” says owner and Master Hair Colorist Andrea Sorrenti. “We are committed to a greener planet, which is why I research every product we use and even offer vegan products.” The spa’s manicures and pedicures rely on natural nail polish and remover. “When you use conventional products, nails don’t yellow, so they look good even without polish,” advises Sorrenti, whose research has proven that pedicure bowls are more sanitary than footbaths.

Trust (MatterOfTrust.org), where she donates hair clippings to make hair mats that soak up oil spills. “Last year, more than 2,600 spills occurred around the world. For the BP Oil spill, we collected hair from all over the United States and Canada,” she notes. The salon’s FAB PRO Green Con- scious Salon certification is an effort designed by the Florida Association of Beauty Professionals to help direct and encourage salons to both decrease their carbon footprint and save money by reducing energy costs.
