Jazz it Up to Support Youth Mentoring

ootsteps to the Future will present Jazzin’ It Up! An Electrifying Evening of Jazz Music, starting at 6:15 p.m., June 14, at the historic Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center, in downtown Fort Myers. The concert, benefiting the non- profit young women’s mentoring program of Collier and Lee counties, will feature renowned jazz musicians that have performed with a who’s who of music legends: tenor saxophonist Lew Del Gatto, who was a member of TV’s Sat- urday Night Live band for 30 years; trumpeter Dan Miller; and guitarist Dan Heck.
Headline performers will be supported by pianist Jerry Stawski, a rhythm section featuring bassist Paul Shewchuk, drummer Ron Hefner precede the performances. The event also features a silent auction, a mystery box raffle and a decadent dessert raffle.
Tickets: VIP, $50, or two for $85 (includes preferred seating, reception with a special buffet. VIP tables (eight seats with reserved seating) are available on a limited basis for $400. Summer Camps Return at Alliance for the Arts
A
Fort Myers summer tradition for early childhood education in the arts will return for its 24th year. The general public and members of Alliance for the Arts can register their children for any of the institution’s eight consecutive weeks of youth camps in two
age groups, each featuring hands-on instruction and fun activities on a separate theme, with the first edition held from June 4 to 8.
Both weekday camps—for first through sixth grade stu- dents, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Mini Michelangelos camps for 4- and 5-year-olds, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.—will include visual arts, theater, voice and dance instruction. Exhibitions and finale performances for each edition will be held each Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. for Minis and 2:30 p.m. for the main camp.
