Our own business needs global connectivity that is available ‘24/7/365’. As Engineers we cannot avoid outages, however we can use processes and systems to mitigate the impact of an outage. Good monitoring and automated alerts in
the event of faults helps to manage the expectations of our colleagues. We should be confident that we know how to respond to an incident whenever and wherever it may occur and that the service will be recovered, that we can report confidently on the incident, the response, any lessons learnt and the changes we may need to make to prevent re-occurrence. Through such behaviour we will achieve the best service we can and maintain it to the best level.
