Technical Review | January-March 2012

the sound files storage area, was changed to a mirrored setup in 2007. In the mirrored setup there was a storage area for each database. In this system, with the help of the programme running in the background, the databases and the sound file storage were always synchronised. Both servers were always active. When the primary server was out of order, the broadcast continued, without interruption, from the secondary server.

Along with this modification process, the number of the workstations was increased and the software used in the system was updated.

In the diagrams below, the differences between the architectures and capacities of the system between 2003- 2007 (Diagram-1) and 2007-2011 (Diagram-2) can be seen in detail.

Radio Editing-Schedule and On Air Software

In the Radio Automation System, two different types of software are used, first for the production and the other for on-air stages.

Some modules, functions and data areas of the software are modified for adapting to the broadcasting format of TRT Radio. RadioAssist is in modular structure. When you log in, Radio-Assist loads your profile (“journalist”, “technician”.. etc.) Thus, it displays only the tools that you need and gives you only certain rights.

In Figure 1 below, the interface of the RadioAssist software, logged on as an administration session is shown. Since it is in administration session, all the data areas in browser and workspace modules are active.
